Content Policy
Content Policy
Pagebound is a public platform and so is the content you post on it.
Most of Pagebound’s platform is public and accessible to everyone, even without an account. Anyone who has access to the internet can see posts, comments, usernames, profiles, libraries, List and Quest activity, and related metadata (collectively, “public content”).
Your private data is never shared, including
Non-public account information (email address);
Deleted posts, reviews, and comments
Private library shelves
Though Pagebound content is public, it is not available for commercial use.
We do not license Pagebound content for commercial use, and we do not support unauthorized access (for example, by scraping or using data brokers) to collect public data in bulk, especially with the rise of use cases like generative AI.
You can keep your content private.
Pagebound is inherently a public platform. You choose whether you want to create an account, publicly post, or comment on the platform, and what you include about yourself in any posts or comments you make publicly available.
If you prefer not to contribute content publicly, you have these options:
You can view book forums and Quest forums rather than participating
You can create private shelves in your library
For more information on how and why Pagebound collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use the platform, please review our Privacy Policy.

Content Guidelines
Content Guidelines
We welcome your honest opinions about books. That said, we take creating and preserving a welcoming, respectful, and kind community seriously and do not allow content in posts, reviews, and comments that goes against the spirit of these values.
Types of content that will be deleted, and anyone posting these risks being removed from the site according to our Community Guidelines:
Hateful content/speech: direct attacks against people—rather than concepts or institutions—on the basis of who they are, in other words, based on their religion, ethnicity, nationality, race, color, descent, gender or other identity factor.
Content that reveals someone’s personal or confidential information or threatens to do so.
Content that attacks other users. Expressing disagreement should be done with respect. If the primary purpose of your content is to mock, bully, threaten, or harass another user, that content will be deleted, and you risk being removed from the site. What content crosses the line into harassment? See the Harassment Policy below.
Content that is not in the spirit of authentic and genuine engagement will be removed. For example, making antagonistic posts/comments in forums where the primary purpose is to provoke a reaction or spoil/ruin the reading experience for others.
Content that plagiarizes from another source or uses copyrighted material without permission.
Self-promotional or spam content
What is self-promo? Anything promoting something in which you benefit (does not need to be a monetary benefit). You are required to disclose any connection you have to anything you promote. You may not post content promoting your book, personal website, social media, writing, book club, Discord server, etc. We take a strict stance on self-promo to keep the community organic. Determining self-promo is a judgement call, and if the primary purpose of your content appears to be self-promo, it will be removed.
Content promoting, encouraging, or linking to pirated books or illegal downloads.
Commercial reviews/content where there is no disclosure of affiliation or receiving a free copy of the book
Reviews about the author. Mentioning the author in the context of a review is always acceptable, but reviews that are predominantly about an author’s behavior and not about the book may be deleted.
Reviews not about content in the book but rather primarily about content external to the book.
Reviews where it's clear that the reviewer did not read the book and is posting a review in bad faith.
Pagebound reserves the right to archive or remove your content at any time, for any reason. It is at our sole discretion that we decide when content is against our guidelines.
The content posted on Pagebound is individual and subjective opinions. The opinions expressed are those of Pagebound members and not of Pagebound LLC. We do not endorse any of the opinions expressed by users.

Harrassment Policy
This policy is designed to protect Pagebound users from targeted personal harassment. Passionate debate and discourse are welcome on Pagebound, and it’s not against our rules to have a strong opinion, criticize someone, or downvote others’ content. That said, we do not allow behavior that crosses the line into targeted, severe, or patterned abuse, including encouraging others to engage in abuse.
What are some things that may violate this policy?
You cannot single out an individual or group for harassment. This policy focuses on patterns of behavior and targeted actions with intent, not just individual or one-off insults. This includes, but is not limited to:
Severe personal attacks like wishing serious harm (e.g., death, severe illness) upon another person.
Making antagonistic posts/comments in forums where the primary purpose is to provoke. This could include repeatedly “trolling” or posting "rage bait" to Quest forums or Book forums, undermining the purpose of the forum.
A sustained campaign of unwanted contact, such as following a user across the platform to repeatedly aggravate them, or creating accounts specifically to abuse an individual.
Some examples of policy violations:
A comment wishing, directly or indirectly, that someone dies.
Directing others to pile negative comments onto someone else's post.
Following a user from one forum to another or one forum to an activity item to continue a previous argument on unrelated content.
Creating an account with an abusive username that targets another individual and using it to reply to their comments.
Some examples that do NOT violate this policy
A comment in a heated debate calling someone a jerk or an idiot.
A post criticizing someone's opinion or statement.
Downvotes on someone's content.
Sharing your own personal story about a negative interaction you had with a user, without directing others to take action against that user.
How can I report potential violations of this policy?
To report content that potentially violates this policy, you can use the "Flag" button available in the … menu next to the content you’d like to report. To report a user that has potentially engaged in a pattern of behavior that violates this policy, you can use the "Report" button available in the … menu on their profile. Please email in screenshots of harassment by the user you reported to team@pagebound.co to support your Report for us to be able to take action. There must be evidence of a pattern of behavior violating this Harassment Policy on Pagebound. We cannot control or adjudicate off-platform behavior.
